Although I am constantly changing my makeup routine with new products, I've been sticking with this easy routine almost every day since January. I've adopted a "less is more" philosophy with makeup and haven't been wearing nearly as much as I used to.

I've been skipping the foundation process all together and using the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum and my skin has never looked better. It is like an illuminating tinted moisturizer so it evens out my skin tone and brightens up my whole face giving a soft glow. Because this has absolutely no coverage I still use a bit of concealer and have been sticking with the Sonia Kashuk hidden agenda palette since it has a color corrector, 2 shades of concealer and a translucent setting powder all in one kit. Pretty convenient if you ask me.

I then set my face with bareMinerals Original Foundation with a very light dusting using a large powder brush, followed a sweep of Benefit Hoola bronzer on my cheeks, forehead, down my nose, my chin and my neck to add some warmth. I switch off with a lot of powder blushes, but I seem to be gravitating to NARS Deep Throat quite often since it leaves a peachy pink shade on my cheeks without any added sparkle which NARS Orgasm can sometimes do. I then sweep Dior Highlight Powder in Amber Diamond on my high cheekbones, across my forehead and down the bridge of my nose to give my face all all-over glow.

{Product Review} Dior DiorSkin Shimmer Star Powder in Amber Diamond

After months of debating on whether or not to try out this highlight powder, I finally decided to bite the bullet and just splurge a little. While this powder is pricey at $44, I've decided it is totally worth every penny. The Dior DiorSkin Shimmer Star Powder is an ultra-shimmering all over face powder that, according to Sephora is "enriched with Jeweled Microdust" and has "five micro-shimmering tones that set off sparks of brilliance, highlighting your complexion." "The ultra-fine, super-blendable formula virtually fuses with your skin for a sheer, radiant luminosity."

I've been using this daily since I purchased it and am absolutely loving it. It really does leave a luminous glow that doesn't look over-the-top or glittery. I apply it with the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush (my all-time favorite brush for applying highlight powder) and swipe it along my upper cheekbones after I've applied bronzer and blush. I then do a quick swipe over my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, just above my upper lip, and in the middle of my chin. I even use this with a pencil brush such as the MAC 219 Brush and apply the powder on my inner tear ducts, at the corner of my eyes and just under my brow bone.

And while this sounds like I should look like a disco ball with an overload of shimmer, this powder literally just makes you glow. It is not overly shimmery, glittery or "chunky" so it always leaves a gorgeous sheen. The finely milled powder allows for the product to blend well with the skin so that it gives the appearance of a "lit from within" glow.

Although this powder is $44, the pan is huge. Definitely bigger than its competition such as NARS Albatross Highlight Powder. So this will last quite a while. The powder actually has five different shades, however they all seem to give off the same color as you can see from the swatch below; each finger swiped an individual color block. I just use the brush and run it across the whole pan instead of picking up certain colors since they all give off the same luminous "gold" sheen.

The powder was swatched heavily to show the color on camera, however this blends out to an almost invisible, but glowing shade of gold.

Above, I am wearing the powder on my upper cheekbones, forehead, nose, chin, upper lip and inner tear ducts on my eyes. As you can see, no overload of shimmer. Just a warm, subtle glow. LOVE!

This product has received 4.6 out of 5 on Sephora's rating and the only negative comments on this product seem to be the price. I have to agree 100%. I'd rate this product at a 5 and I will definitely be purchasing this product again if, and I mean IF, I ever run out. This powder is available in two different shades, however Amber Diamond seems to be the most popular and most versatile on every skin tone.

Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette

Although I usually stick to my fool-proof MAC Studio Finish Concealer, I've been on the hunt for a new one and have been trying out different drugstore products to find my new holy grail concealer.

I've always been a fan of Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes, but I have never actually tried any of the makeup products. So I was intrigued when I found the concealer palette. The Hidden Agenda Concealer Set has two concealer shades, perfect for transition from summer to winter; a neutralizer, which contains a mixture of green and a nude concealer so that it doesn't require layers of concealer; and a translucent powder to set the concealer, especially when used under the eye area.

The concealers and neutralizers are extremely creamy and easy to blend. They are very pigmented so a small amount is needed to cover dark eye circles and blemishes. I have been sticking with the lightest shade for under the eyes before foundation, then applying my foundation normally and then setting with the translucent powder so that it lasts all day. The powder is very light and is finely milled so that it allows for easy blending and never looks like it's caked on.

The neutralizer is great for blemishes because the green tint helps disguise any redness on the skin.

Because it is only tinted green with a nude shade it doesn't require a layer of concealer over it like most neutralizers do, so your blemishes never look obvious with makeup layered on.

Overall, this concealer palette is great because it houses four products in one sleek compact. The packaging is great on this palette and I love the magnetic closure. It is also the perfect size to throw in your purse for on the go touchups.

I instantly fell in love with the Kate Spade Cloverdale Rose Vase and the chic, playful twist is added to any room. The problem was not only being out of my price range, but also that it was no longer available. So I put my craft skills to use and made my own (actually, no skills required!)

I opted for larger polka dots so that I wouldn't have to paint as many and they would be more visible from a distance. It also took about five or six coats to get somewhat of an opaque coverage.

Add some pretty flowers, and voila! An instant pick-me-up that looks great in any room. Not bad for under $6!

{bareMinerals Original Foundation in Medium Tan, e.l.f. Studio Powder Blush in Pink Passion, MAC Strobe Cream, e.l.f. Studio Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter}

Although bareMinerals is usually my go-to powder foundation, I switched things up by going one shade darker (from Medium Beige to Medium Tan) to give my face a little bit of a tan for a soft summer glow. If I use this shade as a full foundation it is way too orange for me, so I use this as a setting powder over my usual liquid foundation with a large fluffy kabuki brush and buff it in so that it just gives my face a bronzed glow.

I love the e.l.f. Studio Powder Blushes and I've been hooked on this hot pink shade, Pink Passion. I lightly dip my MAC 109 brush into it and just dab it onto the apples of my cheeks and lightly blend it upwards. It creates the perfect pink cheek without having that "clownish" appearance.

MAC Strobe Cream has been my secret weapon for glowing, radiant skin this summer. I love this stuff. I apply it all over my face concentrating it on my cheeks and upper cheekbones after I apply my usual moisturizer. It just gives a nice glow under my foundation.

The e.l.f. Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter is kind of a weird product for me. I like it, but I find it isn't a necessary step in my makeup routine. I apply my usual MAC Studio Finish Concealer first because it has way better coverage, following up with a liquid foundation, and then I dab this e.l.f. concealer under my eyes and lightly pat to blend it in. I find this seamlessly blends everything together and because of the moisturizing and liquid formula, it helps prevent my makeup from looking cakey underneath my eyes. Is this necessary? No. But I like the overall effect it gives so I've been using it a lot this month.

{Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Pop, MAC Hello Kitty Lipstick in Strayin', MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn, MAC Eyeshadow in Satin Taupe}

Revlon's formula for the Super Lustrous Lipglosses are great. I find they have excellent lasting power and don't completely dry out my lips during wear. I've been layering Pink Pop on top of everything to add a bit of brightness and a pop of pink. And because the color is a blue-based pink, it actually makes my teeth appear whiter. MAC Lovelorn has quickly become one of my favorite lipsticks. It is such a pretty shade of pink that I find to be incredibly wearable (click here for the full review). My other most worn lip color for this month has been Strayin. It is limited edition from the Hello Kitty collection and I never wore it much until recently. I love the bright pop of color it gives without being too over the top or in your face bright. It looks great paired with Revlon Pink Pop Lipgloss.

Satin Taupe Eyeshadow is one of those great everyday grayish-browns that can be suitable on just about every skintone making it perfect when I'm tan and more pale in the winter. I love wearing this on my outer corners paired with MAC Shroom or Ricepaper Eyeshadow.

{e.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths and e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set}

If you read my review here, you already know that I'm officially a fan of these inexpensive makeup wipes. They're cheap, effective and rather moisturizing. What more can you ask for in a makeup wipe?

I had been wanting to try this Makeup Mist & Set for quite some time now. I've been using it all month and I actually like it. While I don't think it actually helps my makeup last any longer, I do find it has the same effect as MAC Fix +. It just seamlessly blends all my makeup together to prevent from looking cakey or overdone. It's also incredibly refreshing to use in the hot summer months.

{Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream, Daisy Eau So Fresh Travel Bottle, Up & Up Nail Polish Remover Pads}

I picked up this hand cream on whim at Sephora just because I loved the smell. After I tried it, though I was hooked for an even better reason. This hand cream not only smells delicious but it makes my hands feel silky smooth. It leaves the most amazing feeling after the moisturizer is absorbed. And the size makes it compact and easy to throw in an size handbag or clutch. I never leave home without it.

One of my very good friends got this adorable little travel size bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh for me and I love it. It's just to tiny and adorable not to love. Plus, the smell is so airy and fresh making it the perfect scent for summer. I keep this in my purse at all times so I always have it on me to freshen up whenever need be.

These Target brand Nail Polish Remover Pads are awesome. They work incredibly well and are so convenient. I love that they come individually packed and are big enough to remove all the nail polish on both hands, probably even enough for my toes too! I always keep one or two in my handbag for those emergency moments when I need to remove any chipped nailpolish. I work in front of customers all day using my hands quite a bit so chipped nail polish is out of the question for me. I love that I always have nail polish remover on hand.

1. {The Orange County Fair}

I love county fairs and this was my first time ever going to the O.C. Fair. Let's just say I indulged in some of the most amazing greasy, fried foods ever. This of course included the delicious roasted corn with butter and seasoned salt above. Yum!

2. {Tiffany & Co. Blue Box Petite Fours}

We had a Breakfast at Tiffany's Event at my work and they served these adorable little petite fours. I couldn't resist taking home a few.

3. {Voluspa Saijo Persimmon Candle}

I have been obsessed with this smell lately. The scent is layered with peach and red currant and kind of smells of light pink lemonade. It is fresh without being overly fruity and has been the perfect scent for warm summer days.

4. {She & Him Volume Two}

She & Him is the duo with Zooey Deschanel on vocals. She has the most calming and pleasant singing voice. Needless to say, I can't get enough of this album.

Lette, a delightful macaroon shop just opened up in downtown Pasadena. I had to check out. This was my first time ever trying a macaroon and I'm officially hooked.

I'm in love with these modern little candle sleeves. I bought three of them to hold my basic Ikea block candles in and I love the way they look on my window sill. And they're only $3.50 for the small size. Instant chicness.

Yes, I do get very excited when my J.Crew Catalogue arrives. It's almost as exciting as getting the Ikea Catalogue every year. I am loving the looks and collections that J.Crew is coming out with lately so every catalogue has been exceptionally pleasant to view. This August Catalogue did not disappoint.

I've been wearing these quite a bit lately and I love the summery look they give when I wear my hair down with loose waves.

10. {Canter's Fairfax}

I love, love, LOVE this deli. It's one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. It still has the same 70's decor and is open 24 hours. If you've never been, and you're ever in L.A. definitely make a point to actually eat there. It's a Los Angeles classic. And a phenomenal bakery to boot!

{Review} e.l.f. Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths

I've been using the e.l.f. Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths for about two weeks now, and I have to admit I'm actually impressed. I usually stick with my Kirkland Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes (read my review here) because they are the best I've ever used and you can't beat the price. But it isn't always convenient to have to go to Costco to get makeup removing wipes. So on a desperate whim at Target, I picked these up to try. And they were only $3. Gotta love those e.l.f. prices!

The cloths are 7 inches by 7 inches and are pre-moistened. They come in a pack of 20 which makes it the perfect size for travel; not too bulky. The cloths are infused with Aloe Vera extract so they are moisturizing and don't completely dry out my face after use. And these cloths take off even the most stubborn makeup such as red eyeshadow (Sugarpill Love + eyeshadow for reference) as well as waterproof mascara.

For only $3 a pack, these wipes may be my new favorite. For reference, the Kirkland wipes come in a box of 150 for about $13. So as far as price goes, the Kirkland wipes are a better value. But the convenience of the e.l.f. Studio wipes make it worth it without breaking the wallet.

MAC Lovelorn lipstick has been on my list of lipsticks to try for quite some time now and when I had enough empty containers to "Back to MAC" I opted for this rosy-hued shade.

Lovelorn is described as an "emotive blue pink" and is a Lustre. I usually gravitate towards Lustres because they are creamier and more moisturizing on my lips, which is a must for me since my lips dry out pretty easily thanks to the hot, dry Southern California weather.

I have been LOVING this shade and it has quickly moved up to my top five, falling just behind my trusty MAC Viva Glam V lipstick. It is the perfect everyday shade to add some color without being too over the top. Which means I can easily wear this shade from day to night and it still is appropriate for work.

If you've been on the lookout for that perfect pink shade of lipstick for daily wear, this is definitely the perfect pick. It's very creamy so I find I don't even have to use a gloss with this, and I get about 5 hours of wear. Not too shabby, if you ask me. I have a feeling I'll be using this tube of lipstick up VERY quickly.

Garnier Fructis Style Shine Glossing Spray

I have been loving this stuff. I just spritz some in my hand, rub my hands together then rake it through my hair and distribute it throughout. It gives my hair a healthy shine.

MAC Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15

I happen to be a lip balm/chapstick fiend. I have every brand you can possibly think of. It's a real problem. I generally have at least 3 in my purse at all times. But I've noticed that I keep going back to this one. It is incredibly hydrating and is the perfect base for any lipgloss or lipstick to prevent my lips from drying out or getting chapped. Plus, it smells like vanilla.

MAC 109 Small Contour Brush

I don't know how I went without this brush. It is awesome. Just the perfect size to apply blush on the apples of the cheeks. I find a lo of blush brushes distribute the blush in too large of areas, but this brush works perfectly and applies product exactly where you want it to go. It allows for better control of product placement.

MAC Powder Blush in Well Dressed

After seeing countless reviews of how great this blush color is, I finally decided to pick it up last month. And the rest is history. This has been my daily go-to blush and really is just the perfect everyday color. It leaves a natural looking pink on the cheeks with just a hint of shine. If you've been looking for that perfect shade of light pink, Well Dressed is definitely it.

MAC Strobe Cream

Strobe Cream is a classic makeup staple and should be in everyone's makeup kit. I've been using it daily combined with my moisturizer to give my skin that healthy glow. I apply it before my foundation so that it has more of a subtle look. Sometimes I'll dab a small amount over my foundation on my high cheekbones for an added glow.

Essie Nail Polish in Bachelorette Bash

Love this color. It's been on my list for awhile. It's such a great, wearable fuchsia. Not too neon and not to close to being red. And it's conservative enough for me to wear to work. I would check it out if you've been looking for a toned down version of bright nail polish for the summer.

MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque

Although I usually stick to my trusty Painterly Paint Pot, this one is perfect for summer to add a little shimmer. It's a peachy, bronze-gold and isn't too overpowering on the eyelids. I dab a small amount on my lids and just apply my usual eyeliner and mascara.

MAC Pigment in Tan

I fell in love with this pigment after seeing it on Moldy Fruit's blog a while back and it has been on my list ever since. I've been using it all month and it makes the most amazing highlighter. I apply the tiniest amount on my high cheekbones after my blush and bronzer and it really makes my cheeks glow. It also looks gorgeous on the eyes, especially when paired with Rubenesque Paint Pot.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Sunny By Nature

This was a limited edition item from a while ago and I often times forget I have it. It makes an awesome bronzer in the summer and I use it to contour my cheekbones. I get bored with my usual Benefit Hoola Bronzer or NARS Laguna Bronzer so I go to Sunny By Nature to switch things up a bit. It can be too orange at times so I have to use a light hand with it.

Victoria's Secret Island Escape Sheer Fragrance Mist

I cannot get enough of this smell. It is hands down one of my favorite smells ever for summer. It is light with just a hint of coconut and sugar cane. It just reminds me of the beach and I love the packaging. Victoria's Secret really stepped their game up with their fragrances.

Wow, it's been awhile. I know I've been absent on this blog for a few months now. I decided to take a break for a bit. But I am pleased to announce that I am back.

I attended the Los Angeles International Makeup Artists Trade Show this past weekend and I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed. Well, as far as the vendors and products/prices go. The amount of people there, however, did get overwhelming at times.

Last year the prices were heavily discounted at majority of the vendor booths. I was disappointed to find a lot of the brands only offering a 10% or 20% discount. So because of this, I skipped on a lot of stuff. Particularly Make Up For Ever which I was looking forward to getting a heavy discount on like last year. They were only offering 20% off unless you already were a part of their own professional program.

So onto the few goodies that I picked up...

88 Pearl Eyeshadow Palette

This is a palette I had been wanting for a while. And yes, you can get these on a ton of different Websites, but they were only $19.95 and I didn't have to pay for shipping. So I figured why not? The colors are gorgeous and very pigmented. I have the 88 Matte Eyeshadow Palette and this complements it quite well.

OCC Lip Tar in Grandma

I've seen several people wearing this Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar shade and it always looks like such a great summer color. It's a muted coral (it looks a lot more orange in the picture above), and is just a tad lighter than MAC Lipstick in Vegas Volt, a vivid coral. It looks great on its own or paired with a lipgloss. I've been wearing it a lot with MAC Lipglass in Nymphette for just a touch of shimmer. I'm a big fan of the lip tars and this is the third one in my collection now. You can purchase them here.

Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Love +

I have been dying to try the products from Sugarpill Cosmetics since before they were even released to the public. I was so bummed to find out the palettes were sold out, especially since they were about $10 less than their normal retail price at IMATS. So I opted for the one pressed eyeshadow I had been dying to try: Love +. This is a true bright red and I have NEVER seen an eyeshadow similar to this.

See how pigmented the red is? I'm impressed and will definitely be purchasing more of these shadows, hopefully in the palette next time. You can purchase Sugarpill Cosmetics here.

I also bought an eyebrow brush since I was in need of a new one and it was only $1 along with a flat top short handle kabuki brush to throw in my makeup bag for on the go touch ups.

I could have purchased a lot more, but decided not to because I didn't think the deals were that great so I figured I'd save my money. Will I be attending IMATS next year despite my disappointment? Probably. It's always a fun experience and I like that you can just purchase exhibit floor only tickets so that I can shop if I don't feel like sitting in on any of the speakers.

{Hair} Resolution and Inspiration

One of my New Year's resolutions was to actually let my hair grow out and not give in to chopping it off. Every year I try and grow it out and when my hair length reaches just below my shoulders, it seems to be the tipping point and for some reason I always make an appointment to get it cut and go back to my usual a-line bob.

But not this time! I'm being true to my resolution and with a little inspiration I have high hopes that by the end of summer, or maybe by fall, my hair will have finally grown to my desired length. Or at least close enough to it.

{DIY Organizing} Jewelry Storage and Display

There are so many creative ways to display and store jewelry. I personally prefer "displaying" my jewelry so that I can visually see everything I have. That phrase "out of sight, out of mind" really is true. So if I don't see it, I completely forget I have it. And I have a LOT of jewelry. So I needed to find a solution to be able to have all of it out in the open where I can easily see everything.

I had empty wall space directly behind my door so I figured it would be the best place to hang all of my necklaces. I used clear push pins and carefully aligned them about two inches apart from each other in 5 rows, leaving enough space on the bottom row to hang all of my extra long necklaces without having them drag on the floor. Keep in mind this is all costume jewelry. The push pins worked perfect and I have enough space to hang about two or necklaces on each pin, depending on the size of the necklace.

The reason I chose push pins was to avoid any interference with the door. I didn't want the door to hit the jewelry and the push pins keep everything close enough to the wall where it is safe and the door never touches any of it. You could also use 3M Command Hooks which come in a variety of small sizes and can easily be moved around or removed without damaging the wall.

For costume bracelets, I keep them placed on this 3-tier stand which is lined with quilted fabric. I was lucky enough to nab this from a store's visual display. They were actually going to throw it away! It isn't the perfect solution, since as you can see from the picture above, I have far too many bracelets and they are all practically toppling over, but it works for now. I keep costume earrings and rings in vintage ice cream bowls (which I featured in my "Gone thriftin'!" post here) and larger earrings in an abalone shell.

As far as my finer jewelry goes, I keep them stored away each in its coordinating boxes/bags in a large Tiffany & Co. box. I prefer not having my nice jewelry out in the open in order to keep them safe and preserve them so that they don't get ruined. My "fine," or otherwise more expensive, jewelry includes Tiffany & Co., Juicy Couture, Tarina Tarantino, Chanel and diamond earrings.

And, because I'm probably the biggest nerd you'll ever meet, I label the bottom of each Tiffany & Co. box so I know which item is which and don't have to open up every single box to find a specific piece. This greatly helps my morning routine so I'm not digging through boxes trying to find that one piece of jewelry.

{Fragrance Love} Victoria's Secret Island Escape

While I normally am not too keen on Victoria's Secret's scents or body line in general (I find them to be rather cheap and cheesy), I was stopped in my tracks when I spotted a new line of body care at one of their retail locations. The packaging is really what grabbed my attention- I'm a sucker for chic and well designed packaging. And the colors are spot on for this spring and summer. But the minute I tested out the fragrance mist in Island Escape, I knew I had to have it. It smells AMAZING! Described as beachy coconut and sugarcane, this sweet summery smell has got me hooked.

And Victoria's Secret is having a deal on this line of body care: 3 for $15. Each product is regularly priced at $12 so this was a deal I just couldn't pass up. I ended up purchasing the Sheer Fragrance Mist, Nourishing Body Cream and Smoothing Body Scrub. And, I found out later upon visiting the Website that there is also a Body Wash, so I'm now on the hunt to find it.

If you haven't checked out their new fragrances, I urge you to do so. There are four other scents in this new line, but Island Escape was the standout smell in my opinion. Such a great fragrance for the warmer months ahead, with affordable prices too!

Ardell Brow Razors (3-Pack) and Betsey Johnson for Tweezerman Tweezers

I refuse to pay to get my brows done (waxing or threading). Plus, I can't take the pain. I know, I'm a wimp. So these are my essential brow grooming tools. The Ardell Brow Razors keep my brows well groomed and gives them those sharp, clean lines that are achieved through waxing. It's only about $4 for a pack of 3 and they last for quite a while. Much better than paying $20 every two to three weeks. And surprisingly, I've never invested in a good pair of tweezers. So I finally decided to buy a pair of Tweezerman Tweezers and I went with the limited edition Betsey Johnson tweezers because I'm a sucker for anything with skulls...and Betsey Johnson.

Did I mention how much I love that Target carries e.l.f.? Well I do. I picked up a few things. I love the Studio Powder Blush in Candid Coral so I wanted to try other colors too. I picked out Tickled Pink, a matte light pink. I've been wanting to try the brow kit mostly for the colored wax side, and I ended up getting the Medium kit (even though I should have gotten dark) because that was all they had in stock and surprisingly the wax is the perfect color for my brows. I'm really liking this so far. I love the Hypershine Lipglosses. And in a light, pinky-coral like the shade Blossom? Sold. The Wet Gloss Clear Lash and Brow Mascara, by the way, is the perfect brow gel. It's only $1 and it's double sided.

NARS Highlight Powder in Albatross

I have been wanting this highlight powder for so long now and I don't know why it has taken me this long to just splurge and purchase it. I'm so glad I finally did because I love this powder. I was getting bored with my usual highlighter MAC Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl (although incredibly beautiful, I just wanted to try something different). This is a soft, gilded white satin powder that leaves a shimmery sheen on the face and isn't overly shimmery or glittery- as long as it is used in moderation and with a light hand. I will post a more in depth review of this soon with swatches.

Michael Kors Leg Shine- Classic

I remember seeing this a long time ago at Sephora and wanting to try it but not willing to pay the $32, so when I found a "to go" version for only $10 I knew I had to try it. The Michael Kors Leg Shine is a scented bronzing stick for legs that adds a subtle hint of color with a bit of shimmer to make legs look tan and sun kissed. I figured since Spring is on its and I would start wearing dresses and shorts soon that this would be a great product to try. I tried using it today and I have to say I am really disappointed. This doesn't leave any color whatsoever and I can't really stand the smell. It isn't a terrible smell, it just isn't my taste. And the smell is much more overpowering than I expected. This bar is more like a shimmery solid perfume than it is a bronzing stick. I may have to return this because I absolutely hate it. I definitely DO NOT recommend this.

CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara and CoverGirl Liquiline Blast in Brown Blaze

What can I say? I love this mascara. I've gone through about five tubes already and I still keep repurchasing it. It's my no-fail mascara that I can always rely on. And after liking the Liquiline Blast in Black Fire so much, I figured I'd try the brown liner (Brown Blaze) this time and so far so good! This really is a great eyeliner that is incredibly versatile and can be worn subtly or smudged out for a smoky eye. Either way the liner stays put all day, even on my waterline and lower lash line.

Crest 3D White White Strips Advanced Vivid 14-Day Supply and Stain Shield 21-Day Supply

I've been wanting to try these for quite some time now and I scored an amazing deal on these at Costco of all places. They sell it as a set for about $40 and they often offer coupons for the White Strips. I got lucky enough to find a $10 off coupon so I got this entire set (35 day supply total!) for $30 when usually the Advanced Vivid Kit box alone sells for around $40. So this was a GREAT deal. I will be doing a full review once I finish the Advanced Vivid box.

I've been pairing these two products almost everyday this month and I find it's the perfect cheek color for everyday and work. Just a touch of pink to give a natural flush of color without going overboard. Orchid Rose is a soft, baby pink with very subtle flecks of shimmer. I've had this blush for several years but unfortunately neglected it for far too long. I've recently rediscovered it and now I love it! NYX Boho Chic is an awesome cream blush. It really is a perfect light pink for the cheeks. I find that applying this directly after foundation, then applying face powder and a powder blush on top (such as Orchid Rose) makes it last all day without looking patchy.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Pop and Rosebud Salve Lip Balm in Strawberry

No matter how many lip balms I buy (and I tend to keep buying new ones to try), I always come back to Rosebud Salve in Strawberry. It's my holy grail lip balm. Leaves my lips feeling moisturized, is long lasting and it smells yummy! I've been pairing it a lot with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Pop for a brighter pink color on the lips without being too heavy.

This powder is awesome. Nothing groundbreaking; just a lightweight setting powder. However, it sets my makeup and helps it last through the whole day without looking chalky and too powdery. It also is transparent so I like to use it over cream blush, such as NYX Boho Chic, to set it and tone down the color a bit. And, it's only $4!

In case you didn't read my review on the ColorStay Foundation (which you can read here), I'll reiterate how much I love this foundation. This foundation not only lasts longer than my usual go-to foundation, MAC Studio Fix Fluid, but it also looks better minimizing the appearance of pores, covering my freckles and making my skin look flawless. And at a price of only $13, I think I'll stick with it.

L'Oreal Original Voluminous Mascara in Carbon and Prestige Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Although my usual mascara is CoverGirl LashBlast, I started using L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara and I've stuck with it all month. I actually really like it. Any mascara that volumizes and lengthens and allows for multiple coats without majorly clumping is a winner in my book. I also went back to using a product that has been a favorite of mine for YEARS. I've been using Prestige Liquid Eyeliner since high school and I'm not sure why I ever stopped using it, but I sure am glad I went back to it. This eyeliner is one of the easiest eyeliners I have every used. The applicator beats every other liquid eyeliner I have ever tried. Not only is it easy to use, but the color actually goes on opaque black so you don't need to go over it several times to get a true black like I do with L'Oreal Lineur Intense (which I absolutely hate, by the way).

Garnier Fructis Style Surf Hair and China Glaze Nail Polish in Ruby Pumps

I actually found Surf Hair on clearance at Target for $2 so decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did because I actually really like this product. It's a texture paste that slightly mattifies the hair and gives it a "beachy" effect. I've been using it to help separate my curls after styling with a curling iron and prevent them from coiling together which gives body and volume and helps it last throughout the day.

Ruby Pumps was my color of choice for the month of February on both my fingers and toes. I decided to be festive for Valentine's Day. This nail polish is such a fun alternative to classic red. It isn't too glittery; more subtle making it a mature version of glittery nails.

{Review} Revlon ColorStay Foundation

This foundation has been on my list of things to try for about a year now. I'm not sure why it took me so long to try it, but this week after cruising the beauty aisles at CVS/pharmacy I finally decided to take the plunge and give this foundation a whirl.

Many people have compared this foundation to MAC Studio Fix Fluid, and since this is my holy grail foundation that I've sworn by for several years, I had a feeling I would like Revlon ColorStay just as much.

They have similar formulas and both offer more of a full coverage which I tend to stick with to cover up my freckles. ColorStay, just like Studio Fix Fluid, has a dewy, satin finish without being too shiny and also isn't completely matte. I purchased the ColorStay Foundation in the formula for normal/dry skin. The foundation also comes in a formula for combination/oily skin which I believe has more of a matte finish from what I've read.

My year-round shade in MAC Studio Fix Fluid is NC25 and picking as close a color as I possibility could, I went for ColorStay foundation in 180 Sand Beige. This is the third lightest shade. It took me a while to choose a color as the shades provided either looked too tan or had too much of a pink tint to it. Sand Beige seemed to be the perfect match. When compared to Studio Fix Fluid, ColorStay seems to be more of a muddy light beige. MAC foundations tend to have more of a yellow tint to them, specifically the NC shades, which work well with my skin tone. ColorStay definitely has more tan and brown than yellow making it a bit of a darker tone and less bright than Studio Fix Fluid. They also both have SPF 15 in them.

As you can see in the swatch below, Studio Fix Fluid in NC25 (on the left) is much brighter with more yellow than ColorStay in Sand Beige (on the right). But despite the slightly darker difference, it actually blends quite nicely with my skin tone. I do look a tad bit more tan without the nasty orange look that foundations typically result in if it is too dark for your skin tone. And hey, how can I complain if my foundation makes me look naturally tan?

I have been applying the ColorStay foundation with the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush, a flat top synthetic bristle brush which works wonders with liquid foundations. I apply the foundation in sections to allow for proper blending as this foundation does dry and set quickly. The best part about this foundation? It stays put all day! It looks just about the same as when I first applied it. No oil separation or patchiness with this foundation, which is awesome because I don't usually carry around makeup with me meaning no touch-ups throughout the day. I've tried setting it with MAC Blot Powder, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish and Rimmel London Stay Matte Transparent Powder and all of them work great with ColorStay foundation.

My only gripe with ColorStay? It doesn't come with a pump. I hate it when foundations don't come with any type of pump. This makes applying foundation a messier process and I find you waste a lot more product without a pump. And although the ColorStay bottle appears to be the same size and style of Studio Fix Fluid, the MAC foundation pump sadly does not fit on the ColorStay bottle. Big bummer. So I have to pour out a little foundation at a time using the back of my hand as a palette.

At $13 a bottle, Revlon ColorStay foundation is a bit pricey for a drug store brand, but definitely worth a try. Just a heads up, this foundation is pretty heavy so if you typically like light-weight foundations, this may not be the right product for you. But if you prefer a full coverage, then you will love ColorStay. I almost like this better than my coveted Studio Fix Fluid. And it's half the price!

For all you organizational nerds out there, feast your eyes on the amazing daily planner/organization extraordinaire: the Filofax Metropol.

I made this new discovery after reading Gala Darling's post, "A Filofax Love Affair!." I knew I had to have one.

I'm one of those crazy people who makes a list for everything. Whether it be a shopping list, things to do, bills to pay or things to look up and research, I never go anywhere without a pen and notepad. I used to carry around two mini composition notebooks that I labeled with mini Post-its to categorize each list. NERD! I know. But its a practice and a habit that I've been doing for years.

But, carrying several notebooks, a VERY heavy wallet stuffed with receipts and coupons, pens and more, my handbags were getting ridiculously heavy. I was carrying way too many things around with me and it was always impossible to find anything when I needed it.

My solution? The Metropol Filofax. This baby carries and organizes everything, and I love it! I've become a much more organized person and I've been finding things much easier than if it were just thrown into my enormous handbags.

I purchased the personal size Metropol in Raspberry. I loved the bright punch of color; instant smile (it's the little things). The planner is the perfect size at 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" and is made with a leather-like vinyl. It has six rings that hold everything in place making it much easier to flip through everything, unlike normal planners that are designed more like a book so you have to hold down the page to keep it from closing (I hate that!).

Here's a peek at how I organize mine:

Debit card, Driver's License, old College ID for Student Discounts (ha!), AAA Card, Disneyland Pass and badge for work. The clear envelope on the right holds cash, Ulta Rewards Card and coupons.

To-Do List sheets that I have yet to fill in.

Start of the 2 page per week planner and the page marker/ruler.

I made by own labels for the dividers using a P-Touch Label Maker. I used the smallest type then cut the labels to size to fit on the dividers perfectly. Behind each divider is lined paper for all my listing needs.

Blog is for any blog ideas or posts. Shopping is a list of things I need to buy or want to buy. Projects is for listing craft ideas and the supplies I'll need so if I stop by a craft store I always have the lists handy and I'll know what I need to get. Research is for things I hear about that I want to find more information on or just google. I also list song names I want to download or blogs/Websites to look up. Beauty is for lists of products I want to try or test out. It's a VERY long list that I categorize by drugstore and high-end. The last divider is still labeled "6" since I have no use for it yet. Once I come up with another idea I'll make a new label for it.

Address sheets which I have yet to fill in. I hope to get all of my friends' and family's addresses and information in here so I can start sending cards for holidays or thank you notes.

Behind the tablet is the mesh pocket which I am currently using to hold my checkbook.

Since purchasing the Metropol, I've completely eliminated my wallet as I now store everything in this planner. I love it!!!

I've been researching more on this planner and apparently they have outfit planning inserts and sheets??!!! I've only been able to find them on the UK site, but I'm hoping I can find another retailer or eBay store that sells them in the US.

All in all, this planner is wonderful and although not entirely necessary, it is a fun alternative to boring everyday planners. I find this one keeps me much more organized, helps eliminate a ton of stuff being thrown in my purse, and I can easily find everything I ever need. I purchased mine about a month ago for $34, however Filofax just recently had a price increase and the Metropol went up to $39. Although still not a bad deal in my opinion. And they sell the annual diary pages separately so I can update every year without having to buy a whole new planner. They also sell refills on the address sheets, to do lists and lined paper.

I have a feeling this planner will be keeping me organized for years to come.

{Review} e.l.f. Endless Eyes Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette

The e.l.f. Endless Eyes Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette contains 32 eyeshadows and packs a surprising amount of color. I expected the eyeshadows to be chalky with a lack of pigmentation, but to my surprise the shadows have pretty good color pay off. I got this palette as a gift for being a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. Such a cute gift idea!

There is a good mix of both matte and shimmer eyeshadows, as well as neutrals and pops of color. The teal is my personal favorite and is the brightest and most pigmented shadow of the bunch. It would even make a great dupe for MAC Eyeshadow in Electric Eel.

I wouldn't necessarily say these eyeshadows are the best, but they are still pretty decent, especially at a price point of $5. Not a bad deal at all. The one downside is that the eyeshadows don't have the greatest lasting power, but I found they did stay on all day if I applied a good primer underneath. Urban Decay Primer Potion and MAC Paint Pot in Painterly have been working pretty well for me and help to keep the eyeshadows lasting all day.

This would be a great palette for any makeup beginner or for someone who doesn't normally wear a lot of bright or colorful eyeshadows, but wants to experiment a little. It also makes a great palette to travel with; a variety of colors at your finger tips, but only $5. It isn't a catastrophe if the palette breaks or gets lost. A much better choice in traveling as opposed to taking my MAC palettes. Sadly the palettes are rather delicate and break easily. So this may just be my new traveling buddy in my makeup bag.

The palette does come with a double ended sponge applicator, but I threw it out since I find them virtually useless. I always prefer using brushes to apply my eyeshadows.

{Review} e.o.s. Lip Balm in Summer Fruit

The e.o.s. Lip Balms have been around for a while, yet for some reason I have had the hardest time finding them. It's been on my list of things to try for months and it wasn't until a week ago that I finally stumbled upon one at Ulta. Needless to say, I was pretty excited. I have seen so many people rave about this lip balm so I've been dying to try it.

I was immediately attracted to this product because of the unique packaging. It almost looks like a large roller ball, but in a creamy color similar to Vaseline (in color, not texture). The top screws off to reveal the product which is surprisingly easy to apply. One swipe and you've covered both your lips due to its large size. The cap screws back on and "clicks" back into place.

The e.o.s. Lip Balms, which stand for Evolution of Smooth, are actually 95% organic and 100% natural making it an excellent product. It is moisturizing on the lips without being too heavy, making it the perfect lip balm to use before applying lipstick or lip gloss. I find myself constantly reapplying the balm; not because it wears off, but because I'm addicted to it! There's something kind of fun in the application process of this balm.

I wouldn't necessarily say this is extremely moisturizing or a cure for chapped lips, but it does do a great job at sealing in moisture and is an overall great lip balm for use throughout the day. It also has great staying power and lasts for a few hours. The scent is fruity but not overpowering.

My only gripe about this balm is that is has a little bit of a flavor, although it isn't as good as it smells. It's more of a waxy, strange medicine-like taste. It isn't potent, but I notice it if I drink anything after immediately applying the product. More so, if I specifically take a sip of water. But it doesn't deter me from using this item daily. It's still a great lip balm and it's safe to say that I'm officially addicted.

This isn't by any means one of the greatest lip balms on the market, it's just a fun, inexpensive and unique product that has been receiving a lot of hype lately. I plan on buying more so that I can always have one within reach (purse, vanity, night stand and car). Yes, I like this lip balm that much!

I found mine at Ulta with the travel size products by the register for about $3.29, however they can also be found at Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy, and apparently some Target locations in the medicine aisle.

Does anyone else love this lip balm as much as I do?

{Review} e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick

After e.l.f.'s Hypershine Gloss in Fairy quickly became one of my favorite lip glosses, I had high hopes that the e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipsticks would be a knock-out product as well. And, just as I had hoped, this product lives up to my expectations.

The light-weight, gloss-like formula leaves just the right amount of color on the lips. And although it is called a liquid lipstick, I wouldn't necessarily describe the product as a lipstick. It's definitely more of a gloss. Overall, I really like this product, especially for when I don't want anything heavy on my lips. Just the perfect hint of color and shine. They even help keep my lips moisturized which is great because I always have incredibly dry lips. The item has "intensive hydrating agents" according to the e.l.f. Website. They also have a light vanilla mint scent that isn't very distinct and not overpowering at all. I can just barely smell the mint when applying the product.

The Luscious Liquid Lipstick is currently available in 11 different shades. I have Bark and Raspberry and I am loving both these colors. Bark is a neutral, "your lips but better" color that gives off more of a shine than color. I love this for everyday use over a lip balm. And, Raspberry is a sheer, berry pink that also works great for everyday if I want a little more color on my lips.

There is just something so effortlessly chic about the "downtown" ballerina bun. From running errands, going on dates, work or special occasions this is an easy go-to look that I've become quite fond of. And the best part is that it only takes a mere two minutes... if that!

{The Tutorial}

While there are dozens of tutorials available on the Internet on how to create the perfect downtown bun, I've found an even easier way; no bobby pins (or work) required.

I found the Conair Bun Maker at Walmart for only $3 and new I had to try it. This little tool has become my new best friend and makes the bun incredibly easy to make. Not only does it create a perfect bun in seconds, but it helps create a fuller, thicker bun as if you have long, luscious locks. This is great since my hair is still a little short and when on its own, makes a pretty pathetic looking nub, rather than a chic bun.

Tools Needed:

Shine Gloss

Conair Bun Maker

Flexible Hold Hairspray

2 Hair Bands

Teasing Comb (optional)

Bobby Pins (optional)

Step 1. Brush through hair to remove any tangles and kinks, then rake through hair with shine gloss using your fingers. I prefer using a drop of Argon Oil that I rub in between my hands then comb through my hair with my fingers.

Step 2. Bring hair into a ponytail positioned on the center of your head, higher up, or on the side depending on what you prefer. I generally go a little higher than the center of my head, but sometimes go to the side for a chic side bun. Secure ponytail using a hair band.

Step 3. (Optional) If you prefer a messier bun, use a teasing comb and hairspray to tease the ponytail and help thicken and add texture to the hair.

Step 4. Pull the ponytail through the hole in the bun maker and slide it down to the base of the ponytail to sit against your head.

Step 5. Spread hair over the bun maker until it is completely covered then take a hair band and wrap around hair and bun maker to secure the bun.

Step 6. Any "tails" or hair that is sticking out can be wrapped around bun and tucked into hair band to secure. You could also keep a small strand of hair out of the bun when spreading over bun maker and use to wrap around entire bun to hide the hair band, then tuck the end in to fasten or secure with a bobby pin. Spray with some flexible hold hairspray and smooth over any fly-aways. I prefer Garnier Fructis Flexible Control Hairspray. I also pin back my bangs for a sleeker look.

And, done! A classic and chic downtown ballerina bun for any occasion.

{Makeup} My 15 Minute Routine

You may have noticed a lack of "Face of the Day" posts, and I'll admit, it's because I've been pretty boring with my makeup. I've been in a bit of a makeup rut lately, but the good news is I've been able to master a 15 minute routine making it much easier and quicker to get ready for work in the morning. So I figured I'd share. Here is the breakdown of my everyday face lately and my 15 minute makeup routine.

1. I first apply Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream all over my face.

2. I then apply MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC20 underneath my eyes, around my nose and on any red spots or blemishes using a concealer brush.

3. I use one full pump of MAC Studio Fix Fluid on the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush and stipple all over my face, then blend out using light circular motions.

4. I apply two thick streaks of Benefit Benetint on the apples of my cheeks then blend in with my fingers to give my cheeks a natural flush of color.

♥

5. I then apply several dots of Benefit High Beam along my high cheek bones and blend by lightly patting with my middle finger to add some glow to my face.

6. I set everything with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium using the Sigma Large Powder Brush.

♥

7. I apply Prestige Liqiud Liner in Black along my top lashline thickening it at the end and winging it out to create a sharp cat eye.

8. I swear by Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in blackest black and apply several coats on both my top and bottom lashes.

♥

9. I apply a little bit of Rosebud Salve's Strawberry Lip Balm on my lips for a little bit of shine and moisture.

10. I then complete the look with a few spritzes of MAC Fix + to "set" my makeup and give it a refreshed, dewy look.

And done–a simple makeup routine all in a matter of 15 minutes!
